The Mérida Mexico Temple is one of a series of detailed pencil drawings and paintings created by the artist Chad S. Hawkins. In 1989, at the age of seventeen, Chad started this unique temple series, becoming the original LDS artist to involve hidden spiritual images in his artwork.
The hidden image in this drawing features the shape of the Yucatan Peninsula where Merida is located. This familiar shape is found as a dark shape in left main bush. The famous Mesoamerican step-pyramid of El Castillo of Chichen Itza located in right main bush.
